China is a state located in East Asia, is the most populous state in the world and the second as a surface. The ancient Chinese civilization - one of the first in the world - flourished in the fertile basin of the Yellow River, in the plains of northern China. In 221 B.C. formed the first empire in Chinese history which, under the aegis of different dynasties, sometimes of foreign ethnicity, ended in 1911 with the founding of the Republic of China. After World War II, the country was shaken by a civil war that led to the birth of the People's Republic of China.
