The French Equatorial Africa was a federation of French possessions in Central Africa during colonialism. It stretched from the Congo River to the Sahara. Established in 1910, joined four territories: Gabon, Central Congo, Oubangui-Chari and Chad.

The Universal Postal Union is a specialized agency of the United Nations that coordinates postal policies among member countries, in addition to the worldwide postal system. Before the establishment of the UPU, each country had to prepare a separate treaty with other nations that post had wanted to bring international mail to and from. The UPU was created in 1874
