Kwangchowan or Kouang-Tcheou-Wan was a French concession in China on the coast of Guangdong existing from 1898 to 1946. The territory of Kwangchowan was leased from China to France and was intended to counter the growing trade power of the other colonies of the old mainland China and to extend the zone of French influence, from Indochina to China mainland.
