Swaziland - 1953 - Queen Elizabeth II Coronation

The Kingdom of Swaziland is a small country of South Africa. British protectorate since 1881, Swaziland was administered by Transvaal from 1894 to 1906, when the administration was transferred to the british high commissioner for South Africa. In 1934 Bechuanaland Protectorate and Swaziland came under the administration of the british high commissioner for Basutoland. Internal self-government was introduced in 1967 and independence was proclaimed in 1968.

Queen Elizabeth II  Coronation

On 2nd June 1953 Princess Elizabeth was crowned Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Ceylon, thus assuming the role of Head of the Commonwealth. Elizabeth ascended to the throne of these countries following the death of his father, King George VI. During the coronation ceremony, Queen Elizabeth swore an oath to uphold the law in his kingdom and take over the government of the Church of England.
