The Republic of South Africa is located at the southern tip of the African continent. In 1652 the Dutch founded Cape Town, occupied by the British in the late eighteenth century. The union was formed on May 1910, and includes the former british colonies of Cape of Good Hope, Natal, Transvaal and the Orange Free State, which became provinces. The union Became a republic in 1961.
In 1946 in the British Empire are issued stamps to celebrate
the end of World War II and the return of peace
