Lithuania is a country in Northern Europe, initially inhabited by fragmented baltic tribes, was annexed into the Kingdom of Lithuania in 1253 In 1569 has formed a union with Poland in two states voluntary that lasted until 1795, when was annexed by the Russian Empire. Obtained its independence in 1918 was subsequently invaded by Nazi Germany and, at the end of wwII, by the Soviet Union . In 1990 Lithuania became the first soviet republic to declare the restoration of the independent state.
