Cook Islands - 1937 - George VI Coronation

South Pacific Ocean, northeast of New Zealand. Became a British protectorate in 1888 and then went to New Zealand in 1901. Remained a New Zealand protectorate until 1965 and then took the current form of self-government. Are in fact largely independent, but are still officially considered to be under the sovereignty of New Zealand.

Cook Islands - 1937 - George VI Coronation

Coronation of George VI and Queen Elizabeth 

King George VI became king after the abdication of his brother Edward VIII in december 1936. Her coronation took place on may 12, 1937, the date previously intended for Edward's coronation. In throughout the British Empire is emitted stamps to celebrate the event.
