Barbados - 1937 - George VI Coronation

A West Indies island east of the Windwards. Occupied by the British in 1625, the British colony of Barbados became an independent state in 1966.

Coronation of George VI and Queen Elizabeth 

King George VI became king after the abdication of his brother Edward VIII in december 1936. Her coronation took place on may 12, 1937, the date previously intended for Edward's coronation. In throughout the British Empire is emitted stamps to celebrate the event.
