Northern part of a peninsula Which separates the North and Baltic Seas, and includes the surrounding islands. Denmark became a constitutional monarchy in 1849, after which, since 1660, was an absolute monarchy. Since 1901 is a parliamentary monarchy. With more than a thousand years of life the Danish monarchy is the second oldest in the world, second only to the Japanese. During World War II, Denmark was invaded by Germany, although it was declared neutral.
