St. Lucia - 1937- Coronation

St. Lucia is an island nation, it is part of the Lesser Antilles and is located north of the islands of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and south of Martinique. Was long disputed between France and Great Britain and only in 1814 the British were able to establish itself permanently. The British colony of St. Lucia became an associated state March 1, 1967, and independent in 1979.

Coronation of George VI and Queen Elizabeth


King George VI became king after the abdication of his brother Edward VIII in december 1936. Her coronation took place on may 12, 1937, the date previously intended for Edward's coronation. In throughout the British Empire is emitted stamps to celebrate the event.
