Basutoland - 1937 - George VI Coronation

Basutoland  was a British crown colony established in 1884 after the Cape Colony's inability to control the territory. It was divided into seven administrative districts. Basutoland was renamed the Kingdom of Lesotho upon independence from the United Kingdom on 1966.

Coronation of George VI and Queen Elizabeth 

King George VI became king after the abdication of his brother Edward VIII in december 1936. Her coronation took place on may 12, 1937, the date previously intended for Edward's coronation. In throughout the British Empire is emitted stamps to celebrate the event.
