Poland 1928 Agricultural ExhibitionPoland is a state in Central Europe which has a history spanning more than a millennium, and in the sixteenth century, was one of the richest and most powerful countries in Europe. Between 1772 and 1795 it was partitioned between Russia, Austria and Prussia. It regained independence in 1918 and after the Second World War, became a satellite state of the Soviet Union. During the revolutions of 1989, the Marxist-Leninist government was overthrown and Poland adopted a new constitution. Joined the European Union on 1 May 2004.
